Four sale events each year.
Our first event of the calendar year is the Catawba Valley Pottery Festival. This event is usually held on the third weekend in March at the Hickory Metro Convention Center in Hickory, NC. The show features over a hundred vendors including contemporary potters and dealers of vintage and antique pottery. The show is well attended by collectors and enthusiasts, and proceeds from the friday night gala and saturday attendance support the North Carolina Pottery Center and the Lincoln County Historical Society(?).
Spring!
Our next Event is our Spring Kiln Opening held here at the pottery in mid-to-late May. Christine's flower beds are usually at their best for this sale. We will have an assortment of large planters and other garden pots, like bird houses and bell chimes and a full showroom of new pitchers, vases, lamps, and tableware. As always, we will have reduced-price pots and "seconds" out back. Our kiln openings are open to the public and advertised by postcards and email. If you are not on our mailing list, please take a moment to sign up. Click on the "Mailing List" button in the toolbar at the top of the page and fill out the form including your mailing address if you'd like to receive postcard announcements.
In September we attend the Potter's Market Invitational, held on the front lawn of Charlotte's Mint Museum. This show features a diverse group of approximately forty potters from around the state and has become a hot ticket for NC pottery collectors. The event is hosted by the Mint's Delhomme Service League, and proceeds support acquisitions and maintenance of the Mint's extensive collection of North Carolina pottery.
Our Holiday Kiln Opening is generally held the weekend before or two weeks after Thanksgiving. It is held here in Sandy Mush and features a huge selection of newly fired pots as well as our 'seconds' and older work at reduced prices. It's a great opportunity to do some christmas shopping or just treat yourself to a new mug or bowl and check out the new big pots. This sale is open to the public and advertised by postcard and e-mail, so sign in on our mailing list and tell a friend.
